Remanufactured Compressors (often referred to as rebuilt compressors, remanned compressors, refurbished compressors, overhauled compressors) can offer the same (or even better) performance, reliability, and durability as a newly manufactured Compressor. The failure rate of new parts is reduced when using a Remanufactured Compressor because those parts prone to failure are replaced with durable components as part of the Remanufacturing Process. A Remanufactured Compressor is more reliable and may have a longer commercial life than a newly designed Compressor. The resulting Compressor has already been burned-in and field proven.
A chilled water pump relies on a mechanical seal to provide a leak-free barrier between the rotating shaft and the pump casing, ensuring the closed-loop system maintains pressure without water loss. The shaft is supported by high-precision bearings that absorb radial and thrust loads to ensure smooth, low-vibration rotation. To protect the electric motor, a cooling fan—usually mounted on the rear of the shaft—continuously blows air across the motor’s external fins to dissipate heat generated during operation. Together, these components ensure the pump operates reliably while protecting the terminals and internal windings from overheating and moisture.
Replacing cooling tower bearings is vital for maintaining airflow and preventing mechanical breakdown. The procedure begins with a LOTO safety lockout, followed by the removal of the fan assembly to access the shaft. Technicians use hydraulic pullers to remove worn pillow block or spherical roller bearings, which often show signs of pitting or moisture ingress.
New, corrosion-resistant bearings are installed using induction heating to ensure a perfect fit on the shaft. Proper shaft alignment and the application of water-repellent grease are critical to withstand the tower’s high-humidity environment and prevent premature fatigue
